Tilly and Her Crabs
Once upon a time, there was a girl called Tilly. She had blue eyes and blonde hair and was ten years old.
Tilly loved animals, but she lived in a town, so there weren't many around. One day her father told her they were going on holiday to the beach.
When they got there, Tilly ran into the cold sea.
"Come back!" shouted her mother,"You haven't put your sun cream on yet."
Later, Tilly went to explore the beach. Then she gasped in amazement. There, right in front of her was a huge crab army!
The crabs had white heads, green legs, blue arms, and yellow and pink bodies. Now, Tilly was very good with animals, so she clicked exactly like a crab and they started to follow her! Tilly found a box and put sand in it. She clicked her hands above the box and a crab climbed in. She put on the lid and brought the box back with her, but not telling her parents. Tilly and her family stayed by the beach for five days. Every day, Tilly took her crab for a walk to its family. She named the crab Pinch.
On the last day of her holiday, She took her new pet to say goodbye to its family. But when they turned to go, Pinch brought its friend with him! Tilly decided to take the other crab, too.
The next day, when Tilly left for home, she did her best to hide the crabs, because they kept moving about and made lots of noise.
When they got home, Tilly bought more sand for the crabs. She then put them into a big box a put it in the back of the garden.
Some weeks later, she went to check on the crabs. And there in there box were 10 baby crabs! Tilly's crabs soon grew big, and she had to move them. Those crabs also had babies and soon Tilly couldn't keep her crabs a secret anymore. So when her friends came over, she showed the crabs to them.
"Do you want to take one home?" she asked each of them.
They all agreed and soon there was only one crab left, which Tilly kept for herself.
